Rules of engagments with Republicans...Libertarians, Conservatives, Tea Party...

We live in a digital age...

The social Media is the new public square where people nowadays get together and exchange opinions, debate different point of view and become friends...
I love politics...I love being challenged...
I welcome people who have opposite views...but no matter how patiently I enter every interaction on my preferred social media site, I assure you it's truly frustrating to talk with republicans...Being on twitter I got my fair share of the online battles...and I can attest to this to be true, the whole truth so help me Social Media...

My friend Eva one day got enough of the run around that few GOP among who were my usual friends JB @nomodebts and Ben @sandgripper , give us...and she come up with this fast list...

Rules of engagements with GOP...

   1. State opinions as well established facts. Ex: business is  good/ Government evil;
   2. Bury them with BS. Link reading materials, as if you are Moses himself bringing tablets off the mountain...
   3. State everything in absolutes: Government is ALWAYS inefficient, Business is NEVER inefficient. Don't worry, if proven wrong, just fall back on "nothings perfect" as if you never used - always/never.
   4. IMPORTENT! Never, EVER concede point, even if your position has been thoroughly discredited.
   5. Backed into a corner? Twist your opponents words so they don't resemble what they actually send.
   6. If you find an example of any statement, no matter how nonrepresentative...present it as the norm. Ex: if ANY union member was difficult to fire, then ALL are...
   7. If all else fails, DO begin calling names. AT THE FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE!
   8. If all else fails, announce that your phone is dying, so-much as you'd like to-you simply cant continue...

So speak Eva...

This list is open for suggestions....
Feel free to send me your observation...
Marie

  1. Great list! Here's one I've noticed is de rigeur for Republicans. Romney did it a lot:

Accuse others of all the things you are guilty of, especially pathological tendencies and beliefs. Assume, righteously, that everyone has the same fantasies and repressed sexual and other desires that you do and they deserve opprobrium and scorn for having them, though you are absolved because you have accepted Jesus as your personal savior.

  3. Looks like the "debate" approach used by most liberals I've ever dealt with. You get an A+ for self-awareness! But you did forget one liberals are especially good at: Deny all inconvenient facts, no matter the source or the supporting evidence. If you deny them they don't really exist.

    1. Hey Anti-Socialist. They have very little "Socialism" in Third World Countries. So what keeps you in America? For we do have some Socialism here as does any country in the world that is "fit" to live in.

  5. The minute anyone circles back around in their "argument" to their starting-point or any previous point I shut it down and they probably get killfiled/blocked. (Previously seemingly-sensible folks get three chances.)

  6. I would accuse Eva of projecting, but I believe the phenomenon she described is more a function of social media, rather than the fault of any one group or groups. Shooting from the hip makes for shallow discussion.
